medium to long term
Generally each new roll up of your data replaces the last. This is not to say that this means files and folders are discarded, merely that only recent versions of them are kept. As it is generally the case that documents have an active shelf life which is days or weeks and once finalised previous versions are of little interest this is ideal. Equally database files which are constantly changing have their own history as more and more data is added to the file.
There might however be specific circumstances where it is desirable to keep many different versions of the same files going back for months or years. To achieve this Legal Backup gives you the facility to retain rather than replacing the month end ‘rolled up’ data sets for as long as you wish. In our example above by the time it was mid December you would have all of the versions you had created in November and December plus a version which represented what the file looked like at the end of October, September, August and July.
You will appreciate that the more rolled up versions you keep the more your backed up data will grow, which will have financial implications.
